South Florida Dive Trip

Team up with the University of Miami to restore coral reefs off the Florida Coastline. Guides will introduce us to Staghorn Coral, a coral important for the Florida ecosystem as well as shielding the coast and residents from some of the devastating effects of hurricanes.

You'll have an opportunity to practice your skills in a pool session prior to the trip on December 2nd from 9-11 at the Natatorium. A pre-trip briefing will be held to introduce trip attendees and review the trip plan, expectations, and packing suggestions.

             We’ll also participate in a volunteer clean-up at a state park to remove trash and prevent it from entering the ocean. Other local organizations will join us in additional on-shore and underwater clean ups. There will still be plenty of  free time for other fun dives, sight-seeing, or a relaxing day on the beach.

The PADI medical form and trip waiver will need to be filled out and turned in before the trip.

DAN Trip insurance is required for participants, they have single trip insurance or an annual membership available starting at 51$. This will cover lost or stolen gear, medical treatment, or trip cancellations due to unforseen circumstances.

The deposit will be due by December 7th at the Outdoor UW office in Memorial Union. Full payment is due by December 30th. Payments may be completed online. Also available at the office will be 4Oceans bracelets available for purchase. Half of the proceeds are donated to 4Oceans to help clean up the ocean and the other half go towards funding the trip.
